Number Of The Day: 100 (Dedicated To Thanksgiving Day)

As you’ve probably noticed, I briefly discontinued my Bible Story series.

My initial plan was to celebrate my 100th post on this blog a little bit more subtily. However, this was not meant to be.

You see, just a couple of hours ago, I used to be part of a select group of special humans who thought that Thanksgiving Day was the Fourth of July!

(Disappointing! Yeah, I know 🙁 )

Well, as soon as I settled that ‘minor’ issue of dates, a significant verse popped into my head:

The Message Bible translation of Psalm 100:4a which reads,

“Enter with the password: Thank You”

One shouldn’t wait till Valentine’s day before love is shown to everyone around him. Only hypocrites do that. Love is to be shown everyday.

One shouldn’t wait till Christmas or Easter, before Christ’s redemptive work for mankind is remembered. Only the heathen do that.
We should walk in the awareness of Christ salvation of our souls everyday.

In the same vein, we shouldn’t wait till Thanksgiving Day, before we appreciate God for all He has wrought in our lives.
As the Message Bible rightly points out, thanking God on a continual basis is the only way to get even more goodies from His inexhaustible blessings!

Thank Him.
Bless His Name.
Give Him praise.
And worship Him.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Number Of The Day: 21, aka ‘It’s Platinum Day Again, Folks!’

Yay! Today is my birthday!
And I just felt I should use this post to appreciate God for all He has done for me.
For His gift of life, favour, grace, mercy and peace.
For the family, friends and loved ones He’s surrounded me with, in His infinite mercies.
For the talents, spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality and experiences He has lovingly used to SHAPE me into who I am today.
For how far He’s brought me.
For where I am presently.
For the gloriously purposeful and fruitful future He has in store for me.
To Him be all the glory, all the honour, all the adoration, and all the praise!

Number Of The Day: 53

Today, Nigeria celebrates her 53rd year of independence from British Imperial Colonialism. The journey from 1960 till the present date has been very far from a stroll in the park. The country has had more than her fair share of crises, coups, religious, tribal and civil wars, as well as terrorist attacks. The nation has been blighted with corruption in every sector ever since the oil boom began in the 1970s. Sometimes, I look at the entire situation and wonder if things could have been better if the British colonial masters DID NOT grant Nigeria independence in the first place. Because to me, Nigeria is just like an overgrown baby at 53!

However, I’m not going to remain pessimistic about the state of the nation. Neither am I going to continue lashing out at the country’s flaws. I’m going to hold on to my belief that Nigeria would eventually turn out to be great again. Someone once compared the shape of the African continent to that of a gun pointing downwards. If that is the case, Nigeria is geographically located at the ‘trigger zone’ of Africa. It is my belief that Nigeria would serve as a trigger point to catalyze better positive change in the whole continent. It’s just a matter of time…

In the meantime, I wish Nigeria a happy independence celebrations. I believe the country would enter and fulfil the purpose of God for this endtime.

‘In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion. (Isa. 18:7)’

Number Of The Day: 50

It’s funny how time flies. I remember quite vividly that just a few months back, there was this heavy desire in my heart to start a (we)blog. That little desire has produced its 50th post today! Yes, I’ve come across diverse blogs whose monthly turnover of posts is three times what I’ve published in a little over four months. But I’m not going to downplay the significance of this GOLDEN milestone to me. I know I’m not yet at the level I want to be. And I’m neither at the level I used to be. It’s the desire to forge ahead that counts.

I’m grateful to God for being my stay and source of inspiration in the past, the present and the future. I also appreciate all those who, in one way or the other, have encouraged me to be a better blogger. Thanks for your views, your comments, your likes, your follows, your shares and your corrections. God bless you all.

Number Of The Day: Eleven.

I can’t think of any quote on numbers to kickoff this article. So, I’d just say that, ‘Numbers are….well, just numbers!’. I know that there are a thousand and one books and materials on the subject of numerology and symbology. And there have also been a lot of interpretations and deductions that have been deduced from numbers. For example, some say that good things happen in threes, while others claim that bad things happen in threes; some see seven as the number of perfection while others are of the opinion that thirteen is the unlucky number. Every person’s entitled to his opinion and as a matter of fact, I believe that inasmuch as you are currently on MY blogsite reading THIS particular article, you are going to have to adopt MY rules on this platform. So, I say, the number of the day is ELEVEN!!

Good. Now that is settled, let’s deal with what number eleven stands for. Err…..I really don’t know. The thing’s just that, as at today, Eleven is the most important number on this blog right now. I know I’ve been ranting for the past couple of sentences, but please bear with me, it’s just the wave of excitement that is currently sweeping over me as I’m writing this down…..

Well, in case you didn’t know, you are currently reading my ELEVENTH post on this site. I don’t know about you, but for me, this is special. Very special.

You see, the fact that I’ve entered a double digit number of posts shows some form of consistency on my part (‘The Real McCoy’ was my tenth post and though ten is also a number with two digits, I would stick with eleven due to the recurrence of ‘1’). You might be thinking that, ‘Just eleven posts in two months? So?’, but let me help you put everything in perspective:

I happen to be in my final year at the first (and one of the best) University in Nigeria. I’m also working on my research project on a relatively untrodden path in Physiology. In addition to that, I’m the Editor-in-Chief of my Department’s Students’ Press Organization and we are working on getting our maiden magazine publication ready (check my article on ‘FACTOR VI’ for more details). Finally, to crown it all, I publish my posts from a small JAVA phone with the old-fashioned keypads. Yeah, I still use that kind of phone in this 21st century! For those who are so used to the QWERTY phone keypads, or even better, computer keyboards, let me try and remind you of how excruciating, agonizing and frustrating it could be to type long posts just to ensure that I can publish on a blog. It’s very much like trying to peel an orange with one hand!!!

But against the heavy odds that are against me, I’ve been able to come this far, despite the lack of free time to publish posts and maybe, at times, the unimprovised resources too. And that’s why this eleventh post is important and very special to me.

Many thanks to my numerous readers, for your encouraging comments and corrections, for your likes and follows. I really appreciate you all.
And finally, a million thanks to my God and my All, for being my stay and source of inspiration in those times when I was so overwhelmed that I thought I could not go any further.
ESE BABA.
